Fire-rated T2 PVC fabric with certificate
If you need fire-rated T2 PVC fabric for a tent, an awning or a technical cover, check two things first: the material's reaction-to-fire class, and whether the manufacturer supplies the certificate with the fabric. What the T2 classification means
T2 is a European reaction-to-fire class set out in the standard UNE-EN 15619 and tested to EN 14115. The standard grades tent fabrics on four levels, from T1 (the most demanding) to T4. A T2 material is considered difficult to ignite: it burns with difficulty and does not spread flame easily. This does not mean it is non-combustible, nor that it keeps its class indefinitely whatever handling or treatment the fabric receives later.
The Euroclasses of UNE-EN 13501-1 (A1 to F) are a different system, designed for construction products, and should not be confused with the class used for tent fabrics. Our glossary of tents and PVC fabric explains these terms.
When you need the T2 certificate
The reaction-to-fire certificate is usually requested when a tent is installed in settings such as these:
Tents open to the public, where the capacity and use of the space mean the safety of the covering material has to be proven.
Events and trade fairs, where the organiser or the venue asks for the documents before allowing the tent to be put up.
Local councils and public authorities, which often require the certificate for events on public roads or in municipal facilities.

Our T2-certified PVC fabric
All the PVC fabric we manufacture at Plastold is rated T2, and the certificate is supplied with the material. We work with two weights: 650 g/m², for event tents, hire fleets and frequent assembly, and 850 g/m², for large spans, industrial use and permanent or exposed installations. This guide compares the two weights to help you choose. All our fabric is also treated against mould, protected against UV, fully waterproof and resistant to oils and greases.
Made to measure or in full rolls
We make PVC fabric to measure for the dimensions of your tent or structure, and we supply full 100-metre rolls to manufacturers and installers: 2.5 to 3 metres wide in opaque PVC and 1.4 to 1.6 metres wide in transparent PVC. Frequently asked questions
Is all Plastold fabric T2 rated?
Yes. All the PVC fabric we manufacture is rated T2 and is supplied with its certificate.
How can I prove my cover is T2 rated?
The T2 certificate is supplied with the material when it is manufactured. Keep it: it is the document you may be asked for at events, in tents open to the public or for council procedures.
Is T2 the same as a Euroclass under EN 13501-1?
No. T2 is a class of UNE-EN 15619 for tent fabrics, while the Euroclasses (A1 to F) of UNE-EN 13501-1 apply to construction products. They are different systems and should not be confused.
Should I order fabric by the roll or made to measure?
It depends on your work: if you make tents or covers yourself, a full roll gives you better yield; if you need a cover ready to fit a specific structure, ordering it made to measure is the usual choice.
Which weight should I choose, 650 or 850 g/m²?
650 g/m² suits event tents and frequent assembly, while 850 g/m² is designed for large spans and permanent or exposed installations.
