How to request a quote for a made-to-measure tent or cover: the details we need

A made-to-measure quote is only as accurate as the details it is based on. If your request reaches us complete, we can check it and send you a written quote without any back and forth. If information is missing, we have to ask, and the answer takes longer.

This guide brings together everything we need, whether you are looking for a complete tent, a replacement roof cover, side walls, gable ends or rolls of PVC fabric. You do not need to have it all: write to us with what you have and we will tell you what is missing.

The quick checklist

  • What you need: complete tent, roof cover, side walls, gable ends or rolls.

  • The measurements of the structure, in centimetres.

  • The make of the structure, if you know it, and a photo of the keder profile.

  • The quantity of each piece.

  • The type of fabric and the colour.

Each point is explained below.

1. What you need

Start by telling us what you want us to make, because each case needs different details:

  • Complete tent: frame and covers. Tell us the type of tent and its intended use (events, storage, hospitality). See our tents for sale page.

  • Replacement roof cover for a frame you already have. More information on replacement tent covers.

  • Side walls, plain or with doors and windows.

  • Gable ends, the pieces that close off the ends of the tent.

  • Rolls of PVC fabric, if you make covers yourself: see our PVC fabric rolls.

We make roof covers, side walls and gable ends for frames of any make, so the tent does not have to be one of ours.

2. The measurements

Measure the structure when it is erected, not the old cover, which stretches and distorts with use. Note in centimetres:

  • Width and length of the tent, and the spacing between frames.

  • Eave height and ridge height.

  • Slope length, from the eave to the ridge.

  • For side walls, height and length of each bay; for gable ends, base and height.

3. The structure: make and a photo of the keder profile

The cover has to fit the aluminium profile of your frame. Tell us the make and model if you know them, and send us a close-up photo of the profile where the keder goes in (the cord that slides along the groove), with a tape measure or ruler next to it.

If you do not know the make, do not worry: with photos of the whole structure and of the profile we can work it out. If your cover is fixed with eyelets, straps or another system, photograph that detail too.

4. The quantity

Tell us how many units of each piece you need: for example, one roof cover, eight side walls and two gable ends, or several identical tents. If you are ordering rolls, tell us how many metres or how many rolls you need.

5. Fabric type and colour

We work with PVC-coated polyester fabric in 650 and 850 g/m². Tell us which finish you are looking for:

  • Opaque, for roofs and side walls that block the light.

  • Translucent, which lets natural light through.

  • Transparent, for windows and see-through panels.

  • Stretch, for Bedouin-style stretch tents.

6. Fire reaction certificate

If the tent will be open to the public, the organiser or local authority will probably ask for the fire reaction certificate of the fabric. Mention it in your request and, if a specific standard or class is required, tell us which one.

7. Delivery place and date

Tell us where the goods are to be delivered (address or town, and country) and by what date you need them. The manufacturing time is confirmed with each quote. As a guide, transport within Europe usually takes about a week once the goods leave the factory.

We check the measurements and photos. If something does not add up or a detail is missing, we ask you before calculating anything. Then we send you a written quote setting out what we will make, the fabric, the colour and the delivery terms. Asking for a quote does not commit you to anything.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a made-to-measure cover cost?

It depends on the measurements, the fabric, the finishes and the quantity, which is why we do not publish fixed prices. With the details on this checklist we will send you a written quote.

Can you make just one piece, such as the roof cover?

Yes. We make replacement roof covers, side walls and gable ends as individual pieces for frames of any make.

What if I do not know the make of my frame?

Send us photos of the whole structure and a close-up of the profile with a tape measure next to it. With that and the measurements we can work it out.

Do you sell PVC fabric by the roll?

Yes. Tell us the fabric, the colour and the quantity, and we will prepare your quote.

Do you deliver outside Spain?

Yes, we ship to other European countries. Transport usually takes about a week once the goods leave the factory; the manufacturing time is stated in the quote.

Can you install the tent?

If you buy the tent from Plastold, installation can be arranged on request. Mention it when you ask for your quote.
